This project was to design a website to inform the people of Northern Ireland to stay safe on the beaches of the North Coast. It included an interactive website and a visual brand identity.

55Online planned out the website structure before creating the website landing page. After a lot of research into the main causes of incidents on the North Coast, speaking to local lifeguards and reading articles on the topic, it was identified that the leading cause for incidents was due to rip currents. This heavily influenced our web design. The landing page shares parts of the whole website throughout. It starts with great imagery of the north coast highlighting the main cause of incidents being rip currents on the hero image and main navigation. It then shows some enlightening statistics followed by buttons to take the user to safety tips. We also designed an interactive map so the user can travel between each North Coast beach with ease.
We developed content to a strong Instagram profile with an engaging instagram bio with a link to the website. The highlights were optimized to display all the beach locations and a link to their corresponding safety guide. A rip current marker filter was also developed to allow users to identify and share a rip current.
Each beach has specific hazards, users can click on a hazard to learn more. Each beach has specific hazards, users can click on a hazard to learn more. Using plug-ins on WordPress the website was able to get live data of the current weather on the North Coast, The UV index, and also the surf forecast for each specific beach.
We developed a strong logo for Beachsafe with a striking colour palette. The main logo icon a safety ring creates a diverse logo that can be immediately recognized.
